Welcome to the 2010 Biggest Loser Challenge with an affiliate marketing twist!
5 Affiliate Networks + 5 of the Worst Performing Offers + MrGreen.am readers vote = One Screwed up Case Study
What the heck is going on you ask?
Well I was thinking about doing a case study. Everyone likes a case study but cases studies sometimes get boring. How can I make it more entertaining? Easy, promote the most disgusting, low performing offers I can find. But before beginning I found an obvious flaw, it could easily be “rigged”. My solution was obvious, get the MrGreen.am readers to vote which offer I throw my money at.
Method:
I approached six affiliate networks and asked them to give me their worst performing offer. The only criteria is they had to have a CPA below $50.
This is what the wonderful networks came up with.
- Ads4Dough: Vacation Cash Loan ($6.90 CPA – Known as the A4D wooden spoon however a wonder spoon would probably be worth more.)
- AKMG: The Snuggie For Dogs ($10.50 CPA – A pawfect pick for this competition. Seriously what kind of person tortures their dog with a snuggie?)
- Copeac: Entertainment Book ($8.50 CPA – Just a really solid useless landing page. A great contender)
- EagleWebAssets: Rule The Seas – Game ($1.50 CPA – Yarg, the worst pirate game you will ever sea. Designed by my 13 year old brother i never had who had access to Microsoft Paint and some crayons.)
- ProfitKingsMedia: Bankruptcy Rights ($4.80 CPA – Possibly the most genius offer of all time. Affiliates who decide to promote this offer are driven into bankruptcy. The affiliates then turn to this offer for help. Shortly after they are forced to declare bankruptcy for a second time. She’s a beauty!)
- WebTraffic2Go: Horizon Card Services ($5 CPA – Nothing says trust like a sneaky pre-acceptance disclosure and seven bullet points all demanding exclamation marks!!!)
Now it’s your turn. Technically the most intelligent and good looking readers on the Internet. I need you to vote for what offer I should base my case study on. Please pick the offer you think is the most hideous.
Once an offer is decided, I will proceed to start a campaign from scratch. I will document my approach and reasons why I took certain paths.
P.S If you have an offer in mind that could compete with these beauties please let me know in the comments section.

Great idea…made me laugh too…look forward to seeing this

this is an AWESOME idea..

Is EWA making fun of their affiliates? I remember many a guide email saying that Rule The Seas was “killing it” at one point in time. And to you they say it’s their worst performing offer? Funny.
[Reply]
Good idea… my guess is that you will be surprised how those “shitty” offers convert
[Reply]
I picked the game.
I’d love to see a horrible offer with a low payout become profitable. That would be tougher, I think.

That Horizon Card offer is truly ugly. I will be waiting with baited breath for the next part of the study!

ZIZAZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Genius test. And I actually got some conversions on the Horizon card offer last year. lol
[Reply]
This is cool, I’ll be following.
Yeah, would love to see horizon card offer, but looks like any of these suck.
Nice study…

I would almost pay for the study to be done on ENT Book, seeing I’m the AOR for it and I’ve been trying to have them mix it up for the last 5 years….which they are finally doing for the 2011 book.
Interesting study though if it goes through.

Gave me a laugh.
Voted Snuggies for Dogs, looking forward to the result of seeing some traffic thrown at one of these offers.

entertainment book or the horizon card.
just cos the others – dog snuggies, bankruptcy might actually be good with the right pre-sell and audience.
[Reply]
Voted for the Entertainment offer. What a shitty landing page. This should be fun. =)
[Reply]
@Mike LOL, that’s what they say when a fresh offer comes in the network. http://bit.ly/dxriyM

@mike @robin on ppc.bz’s chart: “can we call it ‘exclusive’”?
search your email and you’ll find 11 emails from EWA since Xmas that say this:
Top *Exclusive* Offers
#1 Games – Rule The Seas
#2 eCig – Smoke Royal Blues
#3 Male Health – Acai Ultra Power (US, UK, CA, AU)
[Reply]
lol. I was told to push rule the seas for weeks and they tell you its the worst? I think I still get told to push it because its “killing it”.

It’s not officially the worst offer on EWA. There is an eToro offer that does worse, but the CPA is over $100. This was the worst within my criteria. Maybe they just have high quality offers that are all doing well? Who knows!
[Reply]
If the landing page is shitty enough, the offer just won’t convert. Excited to see the results!
[Reply]
woah, looks like snuggie for dogs is pulling ahead…
[Reply]
Oh this should be Epic ! great concept ! Snuggies for dogs all the way, fashionable torture for canines is definitely the way to go
[Reply]
can’t wait to see how this goes…

Snuggie for dogs sounds so cute <3 I look forward to reading on the results. Hope you don't go broke with this

This site is funny. Some or most of the sites like ‘insideaffiliate.net’, ‘hackcorp.com’, and browie.com don’t have any room to complain, they should be on the list too. I mean just check out the bad hair cut of the guy on hackcorp. Greasy kid stuff went out of style decades ago.
All in all good idea, but remember if some doofus just decides to blindly pop an offer in the wrong space, it never will convert.

“This site is funny. Some or most of the sites like ‘insideaffiliate.net’, ‘hackcorp.com’, and browie.com don’t have any room to complain, they should be on the list too.” says some doofus that doesn’t even have a blog or a decent site for that matter. Judging by his linked site, he probably just turned 10 and learned a new word from his mommy that he decided to use in the URL. Now, that totally makes him out of the list.

Damn, that’s crazy…
[Reply]
Hey dogs in snuggies doesn’t sound crazy at all, like there’s a market for such insanity, but if you can make money from pirates, I’ll back you all the way on this ugly mother, lol…
